Speaking to UEFA, Luis Suarez has been reflecting on his time at Liverpool ahead of his return to Anfield in the Champions League this week.
Despite the fact Suarez was unable to bring any major success to Anfield, the Uruguayan will undoubtedly go down as one of the Reds’ greatest ever strikers.
Suarez almost single-handedly carried Liverpool to a league title back in 2013/14, but a cruel twist of fate towards the end of the season saw the Reds finish second.
The Atletico Madrid man played with some great players during his time at Liverpool, including the likes of Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling, but there’s one player he regrets not being able to link up with – Fernando Torres.

Suarez was speaking about his time at Liverpool.
“Despite Fernando Torres leaving at that time, and while it would’ve been amazing to play with him, just to be sharing a dressing room with players like [Steven] Gerrard, Martin Škrtel, Danny Agger, Pepe Reina and Jamie Carragher – club legends who achieved great things – was unbelievable for me,” Suarez said.

Suarez joined on the very day that Torres left Anfield, but can you imagine what that pairing would have been like?
Don’t forget, it very nearly happened, Suarez wasn’t signed as Torres’ immediate replacement – that was supposed to be the £35m signing of Andy Carroll, and we all know how that one turned out.
Of course, Torres was on the decline around that time, he had a torrid time at Chelsea and his last six months at Liverpool were lacklustre, but perhaps if he was playing alongside Suarez he’d have been able to adjust his game and maintain his confidence.
In their primes, Torres and Suarez were arguably the best strikers in the world, but sadly, we never got to see them play for Liverpool together.
