As time drags on, could Leeds United and Andrea Radrizzani patch up their differences?

It is now over a fortnight since Garry Monk stunned Leeds United by walking out on them.

Monk resigned after failing to come to terms with Andrea Radrizzani over a long term contract extension, and it was anticipated he may have a job lined up elsewhere.

Two weeks on and Monk is no closer to landing a new role, and Leeds are yet to appoint a new head coach.

SkyBet are not ruling out the possibility of the two patching things up, listing Monk as a 33/1 outsider to land his old job.

Monk’s Premier League options are thinning, with Crystal Palace and Southampton two vacant roles, with Watford filling their position.

If unsuccessful in being appointed to either, Monk may have to settle on joining another Championship club, with Middlesbrough and Sunderland both searching.

While parachute payments give both teams a higher transfer budget than Monk would have had at Leeds, he will have to start from scratch.

Monk would also have an uncomfortable welcome at Elland Road in opposition as a Championship boss.

Walking out on them for a Premier League role would have been harsh but ruthless, yet also understandable in a way. For a role in the same division is a lot harder to forgive.

If either Monk or Radrizzani pick up the phone and try to make amends, the story could yet have a happy ending.

Monk was loved by the Leeds players, and the fans though highly of him before his walk out.

There has been a growth of ill feeling towards Monk since, but it could be smoothed over with a humble apology.

It could be a little awkward, but looking at the options available, a dramatic U-turn could be the best option right now for both club and manager.
