Should Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers poach a striker from their Scottish Premiership rivals?
There isn’t many people who Rangers fans dislike more than Neil Lennon, it has to be said.
The Hibernian manager goaded the visiting Rangers fans following a last-gasp equaliser in Sunday’s pulsating 5-5 draw at Easter Road, giving the Gers fanbase yet another reason to, well, hate him.
But there is a way for the Ibrox side to seek revenge on the Celtic legend: Sign Florian Kamberi.
The Swiss striker, who has nine goals in 14 Premiership games since joining on loan in January, has been a revelation in Scotland’s top flight and Lennon will be desperate to keep him in Edinburgh permanently.
The 23-year-old told The Scotsman in April that he would be open to the idea of staying in Leith, but why don’t Rangers throw a spanner in the works?
At this moment in time, new Gers boss Steven Gerrard only has one quality striker in Glasgow in Alfredo Morelos, who may not even be around in time for next season if certain Chinese and Championship clubs renew an interest.
The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Rangers wanted a “marquee striker” and although that can still be achieved, someone like the Grasshoppers-owned marksman should be explored too; not strictly as a one-finger salute to Lennon, but Kamberi is a proven goalscorer in the Premiership and someone of his talents shouldn’t be sniffed at.
