Speaking to Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, Ilkay Gundogan has opened up on his relationship with Jurgen Klopp and what he’s like as a manager.
The midfielder of course played under Klopp during his time at Borussia Dortmund, and it seems as though those two formed a strong relationship during that time.
Gundogan was asked about whether or not Pep Guardiola is the best manager he’s ever worked under, and while he claims his current boss is the best, he couldn’t help but give Klopp some credit.
“Jurgen is as a character Jurgen is someone who when you go on the pitch you are able to sacrifice everything for him you know to give it your all. He has a power in the way he talks to you and the way he speaks to you to give you the right words going into a game, so you go onto the pitch and you would die for him,” Gundogan said.

This is very interesting to hear.
It must have been strange for Gundogan to see Klopp as a rival during the last few seasons after such a successful spell working together at Dortmund.
You can tell that Klopp is a fantastic motivator, his players at Liverpool seem to run through walls for him and that’s why they’ve been so good in recent seasons, winning numerous major trophies.
