Tottenham Hotspur have allegedly held talks about signing the Turkish international.

According to Turkish publication Haberturk, Tottenham Hotspur have conducted talks with Besiktas over the possible transfer of striker Cenk Tosun, but do Spurs really need the 26-year-old?
The report suggests that it will take an offer in the region of £18million to seal a deal in January, and considering the players already at Tottenham’s disposal, a mid-season move for the Turkish international makes little sense.

Tosun is not going to want to move from a club where he is starting, and scoring, week in, week out, to one where he will have to bide his time given the outstanding ongoing form of Harry Kane.
With Fernando Llorente also available when Tottenham need to change things up or go with two up top, and with Heung-min Son an effective option out wide, a move for Tosun would be a bold but somewhat bizarre decision by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, especially when you consider he has been burned when signing prolific forwards from foreign leagues.

Vincent Janssen quickly made his mark in Turkish football, scoring two goals and providing two assists in his first three matches, but he could not do it in the Premier League.
Tosun may be far more experienced, but by now Tottenham know Kane is their main man and Tosun’s arrival so soon after Llorente’s would be bizarre given the Spaniard’s experience of English football and his impressive record for Swansea City last season.
There are plenty of top flight clubs that need Tosun, but Tottenham are not one of them, even for £18million.
