West Ham United are reportedly keen on Andre Schurrle.
West Ham United will be looking for January additions to boost their battle against relegation, and manager David Moyes could pursue another attacker.
The Hammers have enjoyed a little upturn since Moyes’ arrival as manager, but remain mired in a relegation scrap, and will be looking for key signings to keep themselves afloat.
An imbalanced squad means Moyes may be focusing on central midfielders, but recent reports suggest that he wants another attacker – despite having a host of options already at his disposal.
Moyes can already call upon Marko Arnautovic, Manuel Lanzini, Michail Antonio, Andre Ayew, Diafra Sakho, Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez in the final third, but one more attacker is on his radar.
The Guardian report that West Ham are interested in taking Borussia Dortmund forward Andre Schurrle on loan for the rest of the season, as the German international seeks a January exit.
Schurrle, 27, has started just one Bundesliga game this season, and with his hopes of a place in Germany’s World Cup squad fading fast, he needs playing time somewhere.
West Ham could step up and offer the former Chelsea man a return to London, and fans have been taking to Twitter to offer their support for such a deal.
Fans suggested that a deal for Schurrle would be ‘quality’ and a dream signing, urging the club to pull of ‘amazing’ and ‘unreal’ business this month by offloading Diafra Sakho and bringing in Schurrle.
