Celtic are reportedly one of three sides interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach youngster Hannes Wolf in the January transfer window.

According to Bild, the 22-year-old could already be on the way out of the German side after joining from RB Leipzig in the summer. Gladbach are struggling in the Bundesliga, and Wolf could be allowed to deaprt.

The midfielder has made just eight appearances in all competitions for the German side, playing under 400 minutes and only making three starts this season.

And as a result, the midfielder could be set to depart the club, with the report stating that Wolf is no longer part of head coach Adi Hutter’s plans, with Celtic interested in the youngster.

As well as the Hoops, Trabzonspor and Rapid Wien are also keen on signing Wolf in January, and Ange Postecoglou’s side could face a battle to sign the Austrian playmaker.

Wolf came through the Red Bull system at Salzburg, and at just 22, the youngster has plenty of time to make up for lost time spent with Gladbach this season, and Celtic fans are hopeful they can win the race.

An elegant midfielder noted for his late runs into the penalty box, Wolf could be the sort of player that can take Celtic to the next level under Postecoglou’s tenure.

The Hoops will no doubt be aiming for the Scottish Premiership title as well as a deep run in the UEFA Europa Conference League. And on social media, Celtic fans are hopeful the club can beat European clubs to the signing of Wolf.
