Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing transfers for two positions in the January transfer window.
According to the Atheltic, Villa sporting director Johan Lange is plotting transfers for a young left-back and potentially a midfielder once the market reopens for business in three months time.
As per the report, Lange and Dean Smith are keen to plan for the future of this Villa side. With the club going big on Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey in the summer, the Premier League side’s next moves are building for the future.
Villa have an incredible generation of players coming through, but there are some positions the club are aiming to solve in the future via transfers in January.
Whilst it’s not guaranteed that the Midlands side will splash the cash in January, it is an exciting sign that Smith and Lange are already thinking ahead with what needs improving in the squad.
Left-back is an area that could do with some more depth. Whereas central midfield might become an issue if one of John McGinn or Douglas Luiz leaves Villa in the future.
