Some Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after talkSPORT reported that Southampton are in advanced talks over a season-long loan for Tom Davies.

The Toffees academy graduate has fallen down the pecking order after the arrivals of Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez, and will presumably suffer from a lack of action this term.

In contrast, Southampton have offloaded three midfielders in Harrison Reed, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Mario Lemina.

This should hopefully see Davies get a lot of game-time under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

It has been a shame to see the 22-year-old’s career stagnate. In just his second league start, he chipped Claudio Bravo to help Everton record a 4-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

However, he has sadly failed to kick on from that bright start.

Having said that, Davies is still a young player with more experience under his belt than most.

He has 106 Premier League appearances to his name and has also played 17 times for the England Under-21 side.

Perhaps all he needs is a fresh opportunity elsewhere in a new environment and, under a coach such as Hasenhuttl, regular game-time should do him the world of good.

Let’s see what the Everton fans on Twitter have been saying about the news…
