Speaking on the UMM YouTube channel, Harry Kane has been discussing his post-playing career plans and the idea of becoming the manager of England.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker is, of course, the current England captain, and as one of the Three Lions’ greatest ever players, he’s now been asked if he’d ever like to manage the national team.
Kane says that he’s not really thought about going into coaching quite yet, but he did admit that it would be incredible if he did get the chance to manage England one day.
Kane would like to manage England
The Spurs star spoke about taking the England job one day.
“Oof, it’s not something I’ve thought about too much to be honest. I feel like I still have plenty of years to play football. You never know, management isn’t something in my head at the moment. I guess with being the England captain and being a leader it may be something I look to do. England manager is one of the greatest jobs you can have, so there will be a lot of work between now and then. If it happens it would be incredible, but it’s not something I’m thinking of,” Kane said.
Maybe one day
Kane certainly has the playing CV to earn himself a managerial role when his playing days are done.
As the likes of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard have shown lately, top-class English footballers don’t have a hard time finding coaching work once their playing days are done.
Of course, Kane would have to work his way up before being considered as a potential England manager, but as Gareth Southgate’s reign has proven, you don’t need the most complete managerial resume to become the England manager.
Perhaps we will see Kane managing the Three Lions one day.
