
Some West Ham fans on social media are over the moon after hearing the club have been linked with a loan move for Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour.
The Scottish teenager has been touted as one of the next big things in football, and according to The Mirror, West Ham are keen on loaning him.
Indeed, former Rangers boss Mark Warburton has claimed that he could be world class one day, and his performances for Chelsea when he’s been given a chance certainly back that view up.
Gilmour is a central midfielder by trade, so where he’d fit into the Hammers’ squad with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek vying for positions is difficult to envisage, but he’d certainly be a great depth option.
There is a caveat to this signing though. West Ham are only allowed two domestic loans, and with Jesse Lingard set to join the club, the Hammers have plans to make Said Benrahma’s loan deal a permanent one.
Gilmour would represent another domestic loanee coming to the London Stadium, so in order to land him, David Moyes’ side may have to make Craig Dawson’s stay permanent this month, which in all truth, isn’t such a bad idea.
