Antonio Conte spoke to the media ahead of the Premier League clash between Tottenham and Brentford, where Christian Eriksen was discussed.
The 29-year-old recently made a surprise return to England with Brentford, after being forced to leave Inter Milan due to his implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.
Now, Conte has said that an even more surprising move could be on the cards.
What’s the story?
Well, the Italian didn’t rule out the prospect of Eriksen returning to Tottenham.
If anything, Conte actually sounded keen for it to happen.
As quoted by The Athletic, the Spurs boss said: “For sure, Eriksen is part of Tottenham’s story. To come back here would be a good opportunity for him, for me, for the club. But now he’s signed for Brentford, only six months, and we’ll see what happens. It would be good for me to have him again, to work together.”
Now, that would be quite something.

After that scary incident at EURO 2020, it seemed as if Eriksen would never play football again.
Therefore, if he returned to Tottenham to play under Conte, it would be a very, very special story for the Denmark international.
Christian Eriksen could thrive at Tottenham
In our view, should he prove himself at Brentford between now and the summer, Eriksen could easily shine at Spurs again.
Of course, he knows the club well, having spent seven years in N17 before José Mourinho sold him to Inter Milan in 2020.

It was at the San Siro where Eriksen went on to make 60 appearances under Conte, scoring eight goals as Inter Milan won Serie A in 2021.
By the sound of his comments, Conte clearly admires the Dane, and was pleased with his efforts in Italy.
All the signs suggest it could be a successful return to Tottenham for Eriksen if a move happens – should he prove his fitness at Brentford, that is.
