Bayern Munich are on the verge of a ‘crazy’ signing as Sadio Mane prepares to swap the Premier League for the Bundesliga, former Liverpool team-mate Loris Karius tells BeIN Sports.

Now, the German top flight is renowned for giving up-and-coming youngsters the chance to make their mark. See Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, Roberto Firmino, Kevin de Bruyne, Erling Haaland, for instance.

Players like Mane, however, do not tend to join the Bundesliga ranks all that often. And, by ‘players like Mane’, we mean players at the peak of their powers. Established footballing superstars arriving with a suitcase full of medals.

According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich will pay £27 million up front for Mane, with the 30-year-old Senegal international hoping for a fresh start after a remarkable spell at Anfield.

And Karius believes that the impending arrival of Mane can only boost the Bundesliga’s reputation, even if he paves the way for the competition’s biggest A-lister – Robert Lewandowski – to depart.

Is Sadio Mane on the verge of sealing Bayern Munich move?

“It would be a crazy transfer for Bayern because he’s one of the top players at Liverpool,” says Karius, the former Mainz and Union Berlin ‘keeper who, like Mane, will leave Anfield in the coming days.

“If Bayern Munich manages to sign someone like him, then you can only congratulate them and the Bundesliga too. It would be another star in the league, so I would be very happy for the Bundesliga.

“Sadio Mane is very reserved, very down to earth. He also speaks a bit of German from his time in Salzburg. I’ve always got along very well with him. Should he come to Germany, he won’t have any problems adapting.”

Bayern’s under-pressure sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed Mane’s imminent arrival over the weekend, insisting that the former Southampton fowrard is ‘coming’ to the Allianz Arena.

With Darwin Nunez in and Luis Diaz also plying his trade at Anfield these days, Liverpool are unlikely to enter the transfer market again for a replacement.
