Meritan Shabani admits it would be ‘cool’ to see former Bayern Munich team-mate Angelo Stiller join him at Wolverhampton Wanderers next year, speaking to Transfermarkt.

One of the most ambitious and forward-thinking clubs in European football are no strangers to raiding some of the continent’s bonafide powerhouses for their most exciting young talent.

Since being taken over by Chinese billionaires Fosun in 2016, Wolves have snapped up fresh-faced prospects from Atletico Madrid, Lazio, Valencia, Porto, Liverpool, AC Milan, Monaco, Real Madrid and, of course, Bayern themselves.

Shabani swapped Munich for Molineux in August 2019.

And with former Sabener Strasse team-mate Stiller stalling on a new contract at the Bundesliga champions, according to Sport1, there is a very real chance that he and Shabani could be reunited in Old Gold (The Sun, 12 October, page 61).

“It would be cool if that’s true,” Shabani says, before making clear that he had no insider information to offer.

“To be honest, I didn’t even notice (reports linking Stiller with Wolves). I focus very much on my situation, I try to ignore everything else.”

A tidy and technically gifted central midfielder who models his game on Toni Kroos and Xabi Alonso, could 19-year-old Stiller be the long-term successor to Joao Moutinho in Nuno’s midfield?

They certainly have a few attributes in common.
