‘Would be a good race’: Gareth Bale says one Spurs player might be even quicker than he is

Speaking on the Sky Sports Football YouTube channel, Gareth Bale has named Lucas Moura as the fastest player at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Welsh wizard was taking fan questions on all sorts of topics, and one supporter wanted to know who the fastest player at Spurs is.

Bale resisted the temptation to pick himself, claiming that a few years ago he would have been number one, but now he says Lucas Moura is Spurs’ fastest player.

What’s been said?

Bale says that Lucas is incredibly sharp over the first 10 yards, but in terms of long-distance, there may be a few other players who fancy themselves.

“It would be a good race I think if I was a few years younger I reckon it would be me, but Lucas over the first 10 years is very sharp, but after that it’s a difficult one I think, there’s a few who probably fancy themselves.”

We’d pay to see that

A peak Gareth Bale vs Lucas Moura in a 100m race sounds like an absolute spectacle.

We’d certainly pay to see the pair test their speed against one another, and we’re sure Spurs fans would have loved to have seen them both operating on opposite wings in their pomp.

Sadly, as Bale says, he’s lost a yard or two in the past few years, but as he’s shown at the Euros so far, he’s still lightning quick and he’s probably still one of the fastest players at Tottenham to this day.
