Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are far from happy with the emerging rumour that Dele Alli could be headed off to Everton on loan in January.

The attacking midfielder seems to be out of the reckoning at Spurs under Jose Mourinho, falling way down the pecking order and starting just one league game this season, so a loan move would seem to make a lot of sense.

Some pundits have urged Alli to get out of Tottenham. However, a number of Spurs supporters don’t like the idea of Alli going out to Everton.

Indeed, a number of fans have stated that Tottenham should avoid strengthening a Premier League rival, while others have claimed that he can bounce back and be an asset to Mourinho’s side.

You can understand why some Tottenham fans are so reluctant to see Alli leave, after all, this is a player who once his 18 Premier League goals in a single season from midfield, but he doesn’t seem to be that player any more.

The fact that Spurs fans see Everton as genuine rivals in the league this season is a testament to the work Carlo Ancelotti has done at Goodison Park, and with the Toffees just five points behind the London club, there is an argument to make that Spurs shouldn’t send Alli to the north west.

Here’s what Spurs supporters have been saying on social media.
