With Aaron Lennon, Ademola Lookman and Kevin Mirallas all having limited game time, should Everton consider Arsenal’s Theo Walcott?

Everton were once again on a the back of a disappointing result this season as Lyon beat them 2-1 at Goodison Park in the Europa League.

It leaves them bottom of their group and the Toffees are also just two points off the Premier League relegation zone in 16th after losing four of their opening eight matches.

One gripe against the Dutchman is a lack of width in the team, with Koeman fielding too many number tens and not enough wingers.

Against Lyon, Kevin Mirallas did start only his third game of the campaign, but was taken off after 68 minutes. Mirallas admitted last month, as quoted by Sky Sports, that he “really wanted to come to Olympiakos” over the summer; his former club.

Fellow wideman Ademola Lookman, who was brought on at half-time, was also making a rare appearance with Koeman seemingly not fully trusting either player.

Aaron Lennon has also been used sparingly after being denied a deadline day move to Burnley because of uncertainty about Mirallas’ future, according to the Sun.

Therefore do the Merseysiders need a new wide option in the January transfer window? Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy thinks so, telling the Daily Star that Arsenal forward Theo Walcott “should consider Everton.”

Although Yannick Bolasie will return from injury in the next few months, maybe taking a closer look at Walcott wouldn’t be such a bad thing when Lennon, Lookman and Mirallas all look some way from cementing a first team place.
