West Ham United have been linked with a summer swoop for the Torino ace.

According to a report from Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, West Ham remain interested in signing Torino hitman Andrea Belotti this summer, but would the Italian be value for money for the Hammers?

Back in January, West Ham were contemplating making a £43 million bid for the 25-year-old, according to Italian publication Cuoretro, but that obviously failed to materialise.

Torino value the striker at £70 million, according to the Independent, so it would be prudent to surmise that it would take somewhere between £43m and £70m to prise him away from Turin.

Let’s say that Belotti will cost somewhere around £55 million.

West Ham are in desperate need of an established out-and-out striker, with Marko Arnautovic having gone off the boil, and facing an uncertain future at the London Stadium.

The Italy international could potentially be a fantastic addition for the Hammers, and he would be able to lead the line with more authority and panache than Arnie, but it must be remembered that he might find it hard to adjust to the pace of the Premier League.

He has scored 110 goals in 278 career appearances, and whilst that is respectable, you could be forgiven for expecting more from a player who is valued at £70 million.

Quite how much money West Ham have to spend this summer remains to be seen, but they might be better served in looking for more value in the market, especially considering Belotti’s recent slump in form.
