Would Allardyce be less of a risk for Everton than Simeone?

Everton need a new manager and they have been linked with both in recent days.

Everton’s search for a new manager to replace Ronald Koeman goes on, with the Mirror linking both Sam Allardyce and Diego Simeone to the vacant post, and while it may be bizarre to suggest such a thing, the former could actually be a lot less risky than the latter.

While Simeone is more high profile name, and his achievements at Atletico Madrid mark him down as an exciting option, he has no experience of the Premier League and would be lumbered with a bunch of under-performing players and no chance to reinvest until January.

The Argentine is no-nonsense but do Everton really need a manager who not only needs to get used to a new club but also a new country and a new league?

That would be no such problem for Allardyce, who knows English football like the back of his hand and could instantly shake up Goodison Park.

Koeman was a big-name appointment with an illustrious playing career and look what happened to him and, while Simeone is a class apart from the Dutchman, a star name does not guarantee success.

Everton need a wake-up call and Allardyce is the man to deliver it. Perhaps one day Simeone would be the right man for the Toffees, but right now they need something else entirely.
