Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard would be saying a lot about his intentions at Ibrox if he signs Everton’s Alex Denny.
Steven Gerrard is certainly getting down to business at Rangers.
The iconic midfielder has already signed three players and, according to The Glasgow Evening Times, Liverpool’s Ovie Ejaria could follow him to Ibrox.
But he isn’t the only Merseyside-based player who could be joining the Gers this summer.
According to The Liverpool Echo, Gerrard is also interested in signing 18-year-old Everton midfielder Alex Denny.
And if that one materialises then it might say a lot about the 38-year-old’s long-term plans in Scotland.
Gerrard is an unproven quantity, having never managed a senior team before, but signing Denny might well indicate that he plans on being at Rangers for a while.
At 18, Denny is as unproven as a player as Gerrard is as a manager, but would he make a long-term investment if he didn’t believe that he would be around when it pays dividends?
Arguably not, but if Denny signs then Gerrard, unproven or not, clearly has no plans on leaving the club any time soon, which has to be great in regards to stability.
