Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold after he scored a stunning goal for Liverpool in the Premier League thrashing of Bournemouth.

What’s the story?

Well, the Reds took their anger out on the Cherries following a winless start to the Premier League campaign by scoring five goals in 45 minutes at Anfield.

Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott both found the net inside six minutes, before Alexander-Arnold amazed Lineker and the Liverpool fans with a rocket of a shot in the 28th minute.

Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk also got on the scoresheet, but it was the strike from Liverpool’s No.66 which had Lineker purring on Twitter.

You can see what the BBC Match of the Day host wrote in full below.

The England international picked up the ball on the right – just outside the box – before hammering a swerving effort beyond Mark Travers, who has probably never picked the ball out of his net that many times in just 45 minutes.

Liverpool silence doubters against Bournemouth

If there was one particular way Jürgen Klopp would’ve liked to see his side respond to three Premier League games without a win, it would surely be this – the Reds have steamrolled the Cherries.

Liverpool set yet another club record under the German by scoring five goals in the first-half of a Premier League game for the first time ever, in what was an emphatic response to the pressure the Reds have been under.

It could have even been six in that incredible opening 45 minutes, had Mohamed Salah not missed an open goal.

Nevertheless, the Egypt international and the rest of his outfield teammates who failed to score in the first-half will surely be hungry to get themselves on the scoresheet.

At this rate, even Alisson could get himself a second Premier League goal.
