Benfica defender Ruben Dias has been linked with an eye-watering move to Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Now and again, an opportunity arises that is simply too good to ignore.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are not averse to breaking their transfer record. Since Fosun International completed their takeover in 2016, the Black Country outfit have done so on five separate occasions after all.
In April, Raul Jimenez made his stay at Molineux permanent, becoming the club’s most expensive ever player for £30 million.
But Wolves are now facing perhaps the biggest test yet of their ambition. The Express and Star claims that Benfica’s much-admired centre-back Ruben Dias is a target for Nuno Espirito Santo – though he’s in another league to Jimenez, in terms of both cost and prestige.

According to Record, Benfica won’t sell their 22-year-old star for a penny less than his £59 million release clause. With billions in the bank, Fosun could conceivably afford to bring Dias to Molineux however and this would be one hell of a statement for a club who, until now, have shown they have the bite to match their bark.
Yes, £59 million is a lot of money, even in an age where a decent Championship striker goes for £20 million plus. But Dias is a truly elite talent, the sort of signing who would really announce Wolves’ as a rising force in English football.
This is a chance not only to make a statement but to sign one of the best young defenders in the world today.
