Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that the club plan to hand Fabinho a new contract.
According to Fabrizio Romano in The Guardian, Liverpool hope to enter talks with Fabinho soon over a new deal.
The Brazil international is a defensive midfielder by trade, but due to injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, he is playing in central defence at the moment.
Fabinho has been been impressive in his new role, with his former Liverpool teammate and Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Adam Lallana telling BT Sport in October that he has been “sensational”, as covered by HITC Sport here.
It has been reported that Fabinho is on £100,000 per week as salary and has a contract until 2023, and that the defending Premier League champions plan to extend it to 2025 or 2026 and give him a pay-rise.
The 27-year-old has been on the books of the Reds since 2018 and has established himself as an important player in the team.
During his time at Anfield, Fabinho has won the Premier League and the Champions League once each.
Some Liverpool fans are delighted that the club reportedly plan to hand Fabinho a new long-term contract.
