Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to suggest that Antonio Conte deploys Lucas Moura in a new position.

What’s the story?

Well, the former Spurs player feels Lucas would thrive as a wing-back, and called on Conte to try it out in the FA Cup clash against Brighton.

Roberts mentioned the fact that Lucas is quick and a good crosser of the ball as reasons to back up his argument.

You can see his tweet in full below.

In our view, it’s not the worst suggestion – you can definitely see where Roberts is coming from.

So far this season, the £23m man has been used mainly on the right of the attack, where he has made 14 appearances.

Lucas has also been deployed in the centre.

The Brazilian is enjoying a decent season for Spurs, having scored six goals while also providing five assists in 29 appearances.

Tottenham should try Lucas Moura at wing-back

We agree with Roberts – it’s worth a go.

Normally, we would rubbish this suggestion, although Tottenham’s options at wing-back are poor on the right flank.

Emerson Royal has struggled since joining from Barcelona, and Spurs were trying to replace him with Adama Traore in January (The Athletic).

Aside from the Nuno Espirito Santo signing, Conte only has Matt Doherty as an alternative, another player who has struggled in north London.

Therefore, it would do no harm to trial Lucas in that position, especially as space needs to be made for Dejan Kulusevski in attack.

Keep an eye on Conte’s teamsheet when Saturday comes around, just in case the Italian agrees with Roberts.
