Reported Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe has just been given a 3/10 rating after his performance for Paris Saint-Germain against Manchester City in the Champions League last night.
Pep Guardiola’s side drew first blood in this semi-final tie by winning the first leg 2-1 in Paris.
The Manchester City boss admitted before the game that Mbappe and Neymar had been giving him sleepless nights.
But the Liverpool-linked hitman didn’t look all that dangerous.
The 22-year-old French sensation only managed 26 touches in 90 minutes, a statistic which illustrates just how effectively Guardiola’s troops kept him out of the game.
In fact, L’Equipe pulled no punches in their rating of Mbappe after giving him a dismal 3/10 score – the worst of any player on the pitch.
Neymar didn’t fare much better, only earning a 4/10.
Is Mbappe joining Liverpool?
According to journalist Duncan Castles, Mbappe has told friends that Liverpool would be his preferred destination [Transfer Window Podcast].
The former Monaco marksman is out of contract next summer and Guillem Balague has revealed earlier this month that the French giants would like £156 million, with HITC Sport covering his tweet at the time.
And quite honestly, it seems unlikely that Liverpool will smash their transfer record to bring the star to Anfield, even if he is reportedly keen on the switch.
Remember, the Merseyside club posted a hefty pre-tax loss of £43 million only last week.
And with the loss of revenue from potentially dropping out of the Champions League, Liverpool may not be able to afford major deals this summer – let alone the biggest.
