Leeds United fans on Twitter were divided after a report emerged linking them with Brentford forward Ollie Watkins.

The Sunday Mirror (02/08 page 67), has claimed that Leeds are interested in raiding Brentford for their star striker.

It is claimed that Leeds will push for Watkins signature if the London club loses the Championship play-off final to Fulham on Tuesday.

Watkins has been a key player for Thomas Frank’s side this season, scoring 26 goals over the course of the campaign.

Given that Watkins only moved to play up front this season, and has previously played out wide, he has a strong record in front of goal during his career – 75 goals and 34 assists in 220 matches for the Bees and Exeter [transfermarkt].

Whilst some Leeds fans acknowledge the qualities Watkins has in his boots, there are some who are unsure because of the seemingly big price-tag on his head.

It seems as though the Bees want £30 million for their star man if they have to part ways with him, which Leeds fans are aware is a lot of money for a player yet to play in England’s top-flight.

Since their promotion to the promised land, the transfer rumour mill has been running at some speed at Leeds and it’ll be interesting to see who does eventually end up at the club ahead of the new campaign in September.
