Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Brad Friedel shared a story about Daniel Levy with BBC 5 Live Sport.
What’s the story?
Well, this doesn’t really reflect well on Levy and his fellow Boardroom members.
Friedel told Nigel de Jong and Nedum Onuoha about the time he noticed £800 was missing from his pay packet.
When he enquired about it, Spurs told the former United States international that it was because he kept giving his shirts away.
Friedel defended himself, saying that, as he was nearing retirement, many of his fellow goalkeepers wanted to swap shirts with him.
That is fair enough, and we cannot believe Tottenham charged him £800 for doing so – it’s hardly like he was flinging them into the crowd every week!
Friedel said: “Three months into the season I got my wage packet and I saw that there was like £800 taken out so I just asked what it was.
“They said that you only get a certain amount of kits, I forget but maybe eight or ten, and then when you trade more afterwards then the club charges you.
“I’d never had that before, at any club. And I was getting older so a lot of goalkeepers I was playing against knew that I was retiring soon.”
Why can’t Daniel Levy stop embarrassing Tottenham?

Given the amount of money Premier League clubs generate, we can’t believe Spurs felt it was necessary to take £800 from Friedel.
Of course, you may argue that £800 wouldn’t even have made a dent in the now-retired goalkeeper’s pay packet, although that isn’t the point.
Levy is running Tottenham purely as a business, with little regard for the sentiment or warmth that makes football a unique type of industry.
Friedel sounds puzzled by the £800 charge, and this sort of stuff has the potential to make players feel under-appreciated.

It doesn’t really help to build a family atmosphere when Levy does things like this.
Surely, with the money Spurs make, Levy could’ve ignored the £800 charge.
The Tottenham fans certainly don’t sound pleased with what happened.
Let’s see what they’ve been saying about Friedel’s comments…
