‘Worse than Leeds’: Some Manchester City fans react to Dean Smith’s comments

Manchester City fans have disagreed with Dean Smith despite his honest comments after his Aston Villa side suffered a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday.

The Premier League champions-elect, who were involved in red card drama during their defeat to Leeds last time out, were in that scenario once again at Villa Park yesterday.

This time, it was John Stones seeing a straight red just before the half-time break, with Matty Cash ensuring Villa didn’t have too much of the advantage after he was shown a second yellow after the restart.

And even though Stones’ challenge on Jacob Ramsey was high, Smith told Sky Sports that he thought it was a ‘yellow’ card and the slow-motion replay makes it ‘look worse’.

Manchester City supporters appreciated Smith’s honesty but they disagreed with his assessment after the match.

Even though Villa suffered a defeat, Smith was honest enough to admit that Pep Guardiola’s men shouldn’t have been reduced to ten men.

It has been red cards galore for Man City in their games of late and they will be hoping it doesn’t continue when they take on Tottenham at Wembley in the League Cup final on Sunday.
