Some Arsenal fans on social media have been reacting after a photograph of Emile Smith Rowe seemingly wearing a number 10 on his sliders emerged ahead of Tuesday’s pre-season friendly.
There has been so much speculation about Smith Rowe’s new shirt number as it seems as though he’ll be switching from the number 32 this season, and fans now seem to believe he’s getting the 10 shirt.
As some fans pointed out, this photo was taken from an angle where it looks as though it could have been a number 16 or even an 18, but it’s fair to say it looks more like a 10 and that is a number that makes sense.
There were a range of reactions from Arsenal fans after seeing this photo. Some supporters were happy to have seemingly cracked the case, but others weren’t best pleased about this shirt number change.
Indeed, some Gunners fans were hoping to see that shirt number reserved for James Maddison or another new attacking midfield signing amid rumours that the Gunners are in the market for a new playmaker.
One fan even said that this shirt number was even less befitting of Smith Rowe than it was for William Gallas, who famously wore a number 10 as a centre-back during his time with Arsenal.
