Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira has told The Athletic that Marquinhos’s English is worse than his.

Both Vieira and Marquinhos joined Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

Attacking midfielder Vieira, 22, moved to the Premier League club from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

As for Marquinhos, the 19-year-old Brazilian forward joined Arsenal from Sao Paulo for £3 million (Goal).

Vieira has said that both he and Marquinhos need to learn better English, joking that the Brazilian’s is worse than is.

The attacking midfielder told The Athletic: “Obviously we talk to each other in Portuguese — but sometimes in English too, because me and Marquinhos need to learn English. His English is worse than mine!”

Gunners’ future

In our view, Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos are the future of Arsenal, and it looks bright.

Vieira may be just 22 years of age, but the Portuguese youngster already has extensive first-team experience with FC Porto, including in Europe.

The youngster is a very good creative player who would make Arsenal better in attack, not just for now, but for years to come.

As for Marquinhos, the Brazilian is only 19, and the forward will need time to improve and get better in the coming years.

Vieira made 15 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the Portuguese league last season, scoring six goals and providing 14 assists in the process.
