Harry Redknapp has stated that he does ‘worry’ what Tottenham will or won’t do in the transfer market, especially after Steve Hitchen’s exit, as he told talkSPORT.

The former Spurs boss added that the club ‘needed to strengthen’ more in the transfer market, especially in defence, but questions where they are heading now that Hitchen is no longer there.

At the start of the month, Hitchen quit his recruitment role at Spurs, with Antonio Conte openly being critical of the players the club signed up and how they didn’t work out.

The likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso – two big-money transfers – were sent out on loan to prove how wrong things had become.

Tottenham’s recruitment was something Redknapp touched up, as he also questioned what the club will do next now Hitchen is no longer in the boardroom.

“The recruitment hasn’t been good,” said Redknapp. “They have gone through a few managers during the past few years and results haven’t improved very much.

“It’s about recruitment. They maybe need to change one or two players that have been around the squad. And the ones they have brought in haven’t been top draw. They have been decent. But not good enough for them to be a top-four team.

“That’s where they need to strengthen (in defence). I do worry. I see Steve Hitchen has left the club. He was a big part of their recruitment there. Big reputation.

“I don’t know if they are going to bring anyone else in from that side of the club.”

All eyes and the pressure is on Fabio Paratici and what he can do in the transfer market for Spurs.

Some players purchased during the summer, such as Emerson Royal, are already being questioned.

Whilst Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur were brought in during the January window, with many thinking that more was needed, especially at the back.

Either way, the limelight will be on Paratici in the summer and who he can lure to the club because Conte is making it constantly clear that the gap is way too big between Spurs and those at the top.
