Rangers defender Joe Worrall is staying at Ibrox despite Nottingham Forest’s desire to recall him.

What is clear is that Worrall is unlikely to stay with Rangers next year, with his parent club seeing him as part of their plans.

He is not the only Rangers centre-back with question marks over his future. Gareth McAuley’s status for 2019/20 is unclear.

Rangers signed McAuley as a free agent in September on a one year contract.

At this present time it’s unclear whether Rangers should and will renew it.

McAuley took a while to get going, spending his first couple of months getting up to speed.

He has only made six league appearances so far, and wasn’t part of the recent win over Celtic.

If McAuley is to earn a new deal at Rangers, he needs to play a more prominent role over the second half of the season.

Rangers need to prioritise signing another centre-back in the summer if McAuley’s deal isn’t renewed, with Worrall unlikely to stay too, they will be left short in a crucial position.
