The 2026 PGA Tour season kicks off with the Sony Open in Hawaii next week, and there are some big names set to tee it up.
Robert MacIntyre, Collin Morikawa, J.J. Spaun, and Ben Griffin are among the standout players expected to feature at Waialae Country Club.
However, the field took a hit over the weekend when one of the tour’s most recognisable faces pulled out late on.
Due to an ongoing illness, the world number 29 has pulled out of the tournament.
Marco Penge pulls out of Sony Open

Marco Penge has been dealing with a viral illness since the DP World Tour Championship in November.
Penge finished tied for 22nd at the season-ending event, missing out on the Race to Dubai title, which went to Rory McIlroy.
Since then, the Englishman has moved to America to play full-time on the PGA Tour.
Penge was set to make his 2026 debut at the Sony Open but is still not fully recovered from his illness.
He posted on X: “I was meant to start my season next week in Hawaii, but unfortunately, I have had to WD due to a viral illness I’ve been fighting since Dubai, back in November.
“Frustrating to put a delay on my start, but I’m close to being fully fit again, and I’ll be back out there soon.”
Marco Penge likely to make return at Torrey Pines
Penge has already spoken about the PGA Tour events he is looking forward to most this season.
“I’m obviously looking forward to playing at Bay Hill, Riviera, and Torrey Pines, but the ones I’m looking forward to the most are the Players Championship and the Phoenix Open,” he revealed.
However, he is not just happy being on the PGA Tour. Penge has made it clear that his focus is on getting into contention and picking up a win sooner rather than later.
“I want to contend in the majors and try to get a win next year on the PGA Tour. That would be pretty cool in my first season. I want to get in contention as much as I can.”
