Dino Zoff has told The Sunday Post that Robin Olsen would be a good signing for Celtic.
According to The Sunday Post, Celtic are considering making a move for Sweden international goalkeeper Olsen in the summer transfer window.
The Glasgow giants need to sign at least one new goalkeeper this summer, with Fraser Forster having returned to his parent club Southampton from a loan spell at Celtic Park, and Craig Gordon having left this summer.
Zoff is a goalkeeping legend, having played for Napoli, Juventus and the Italy national football team.
The 78-year-old, who won multiple Serie A titles with Juventus and the World Cup with Italy in 1982, has outlined why Olsen would be a good signing for Celtic this summer.
Zoff told The Sunday Post about Olsen: “I think it is a move which could work very well for everyone. I have seen a lot of Robin Olsen, for both Roma and Cagliari, and he is a goalkeeper I really like.
“He is always very confident and focused, and that self-belief is invaluable because it spreads through the rest of his defence. Perhaps his strongest strength is his positional sense. You never see him having to throw himself about because he is always in the right place to make the save.
“I think he would be a good signing for Celtic. He has matured as a footballer during his time in Italy. I also think his physique and height (he is 6ft 5in) would be to his advantage in the Scottish league.”
Good signing for Celtic?
Olsen is on loan at Cagliari from AS Roma at the moment, and he has done well there.
Roma could be open to selling the Sweden international goalkeeper at the right price, and given his vast experience and strong performances over the years, he would be a good signing for the Hoops.
According to The Glasgow Evening Times, Celtic are on the verge of signing goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas from AEK Athens for £5 million, but perhaps the Glasgow giants will also look into the possibility of bringing in another player for that position, as Scott Bain is the only senior custodian at the moment.
