World Cup winning legend Sir Geoff Hurst urged Spurs to pay Harry Kane what he deserves, if they want to keep him at the club, when speaking exclusively to talkSPORT.

The 24-year-old has been quite sensational for Tottenham this season, racking up 26 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions thus far, and capped off a fine 2017 by finishing the calendar year as Europe’s most prolific goalscorer.

Unfortunately for the Lilywhites, though, his superb displays have not gone unnoticed, with both Real Madrid and Manchester United lining up huge summer offers for his services, according to the Sun.

Kane seems to be a fiercely loyal player, however, and admitted himself this week that he would have no problem remaining in north London, on the condition that Spurs start to win trophies.

Hurst, who won the World Cup with England in 1966, spoke to talkSPORT, and suggested that Kane will be happy to stay with Tottenham, if he is offered a package that would see him earn as much as the rest of the Premier League’s big hitters:

West Ham and England footballers (left to right), Geoff Hurst, Bobby Moore (1941 - 1993) and Martin Peters, 1966. All three are members of the1966 World Cup-winning England team.

“Players talk about winning trophies but I’m not sure that is the ultimate goal. If I was to look at Harry Kane I’d say if you were to stay at Tottenham now, a magnificent club with a new stadium playing in a fantastic team, that’s always around if he didn’t win a trophy. He needs to be on the same money as the other big boys in the £200,000 a week bracket, if he gets that he’s with two great creators Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen playing brilliantly.”

Only time will tell if Spurs can do enough to convince Kane to stay with them, but one thing is for sure, if Daniel Levy does not pay the 24-year-old what he deserves, Tottenham fans will fear the worst.
