Should Tottenham Hotspur make a move to sign Andre Schurrle?
Borussia Dortmund are willing to loan out Andre Schurrle and it is a move Tottenham Hotspur should consider making.
Crucially Dortmund are happy to pay half, meaning Schurrle on £75,000 per-week could fit easily within Tottenham’s wage budget.
27-year-old Schurrle played a crucial role in Germany’s World Cup win in 2014, providing the extra-time assist for Mario Gotze’s memorable winner.
He was sold by Chelsea to Wolfsburg before joining Dortmund for £25m, where his chances have been limited this season. He has made only six Bundesliga appearances, making two assists.
Tottenham’s transfer plans this January have seen them look at Lucas Moura and Malcom, with no progress so far, Schurrle could be a shrewd addition considering there is no transfer fee involved.
He is familiar with both the Premier League and London and could complement Harry Kane as opposed to competing with him.
Schurrle plays predominantly as a winger and would fit with Tottenham’s formation, and like Heung-Min Son he can fill in and lead the line if required in Kane’s absence.
He is aiming to get back into contention for Germany’s World Cup squad for Russia and a move to Tottenham could help his chances.
