Tottenham Hotspur head into 2023 in iffy form. The north London club remain in the top four, but their performances, both domestically and in the Champions League, as of late have been poor.
This all comes amid a backdrop of speculation about Antonio Conte’s future, and it’s fair to say that the Italian wants to be backed in the January transfer window.
It’s no secret that Conte wants both attacking and defensive reinforcements next month as Spurs reportedly eye two signings.
With that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting Tottenham’s starting XI after the January transfer window.
Spurs reportedly want a defender and an attacker, and that’s exactly what we think they’ll get.
Pedro Porro is a player that has reportedly been scouted extensively in recent weeks, so he comes in at wing-back after it was reported that Spurs may use Marcus Edwards’ sell-on clause to negotiate a deal with Sporting.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Kudus comes in as a new attacking option. The Ghanaian has been linked to Spurs in recent weeks and he has just come off the back of a great outing at the World Cup.
Kudus is entering the final six months of his contract and he could be available for a bargain fee next month.
This is a player that is definitely up Antonio Conte’s street. He’s intense, he’s technically gifted, and perhaps most importantly, he’s versatile. Kudus can play anywhere across the front three as well as in the midfield, so he could plug quite a few gaps in this team.
Tottenham need to back Conte if they want to keep hold of him, and the way to do that may be to bring Kudus and Porro to the club.
