Jose Enrique wants Liverpool to secure the transfer of Romeo Lavia despite rumours that Arsenal are working on a deal to sign the Southampton midfielder.
Arsenal’s priority signing this summer is Declan Rice, which is a saga that’s taking many twist and turns, but Romeo Lavia is on the club’s radar also.
When former left-back Enrique was reacting to Fabrizio Romano’s tweet that ‘Arsenal have been working on a deal for 15 days’ to sign Lavia, he made it clear that he wants Liverpool to hijack the transfer, as he posted on Twitter.

The Reds aren’t going to splash the cash like Arsenal are going to seemingly do with Rice, the Englishman might end up leaving West Ham for over £100 million.
In comparison, those on Merseyside, who are also in need of midfield players this summer, signed World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister for £35 million from Brighton this summer.
That’s probably the financial ballpark Liverpool are going to swim in, as Enrique claimed that Jurgen Klopp can turn 19-year-old Lavia into a ‘world class’ player.
“He is a player we need to sign,” said Enrique. “He is a top player with a lot of potential to become world class under Klopp.”
Lavia would excel under Klopp and Arteta
The Belgium midfielder shouldn’t take relegation too hard because, despite playing in a below-par and very young Southampton side, he was still one of their better players.
He is more than good enough to join Arsenal and Liverpool, as he would excel under the stewardship of Klopp and Arteta, who are two high-quality coaches that would take his game to the next level.
It’s just a case of picking the right home because he’s too good to be playing Championship football next term.
