Speaking to Sky Sports, Kostas Tsimikas has been discussing Jordan Henderson after England’s World Cup exit.
The Greek is, of course, Henderson’s teammate at club level, and he says that he thinks the midfielder deserves more credit for his performances at the World Cup.
The Liverpool captain headed to Qatar expected to be something of a peripheral figure in a very competitive battle to start in the midfield, but it didn’t take him long at all to earn a starting spot.
Henderson was arguably England’s best player in Qatar, and Tsimikas thinks he deserved more for his efforts.

Henderson deserves more
Tsimikas discussed his teammate.
“I think he deserves something more. I think he is a world-class player, so that’s why I think he deserves more. I watched all of the games and when Jordan played and when Trent got subbed in, he played very well and I’m really happy for them,” Tsimikas said.
“Jordan, when he scored he was always smiling, it was incredible, I will be happy to see them again in the coming days, I don’t know when they’re coming, but hopefully they enjoy their time off and come back ready for the next part of the season.”
All deserved more
Tsimikas is absolutely right, Henderson deserved more at this World Cup, but so did the entire England squad.
The Three Lions going out at this stage feels premature. They were one of the best teams at this tournament and they absolutely deserved a result against France.
Alas, in true English fashion, a missed penalty cost Gareth Southgate’s side the chance to progress, and for players such as Henderson, it’s probably cost him the chance of ever winning the World Cup.
Indeed, at the age of 32, 2026 may be a bridge too far for Henderson, and it’s a shame that a player of his quality won’t get his hands on the game’s greatest trophy.
