Chelsea fans have lauded reported West Ham and Newcastle United target, Ross Barkley, in pre-season.
The 27-year-old, who is attracting interest from the likes of West Ham and Newcastle this summer, was involved in Chelsea’s 6-1 thumping in their pre-season friendly against Peterborough on Saturday.
Barkley impressed the Chelsea supporters with his performance yesterday, but they were all saying the same thing about the expert ball-carrier.
Many of them pointed out how he looks ‘world class’ in pre-season but then he just cannot seem to get his engine going for the real thing.
This is a huge moment in Barkley’s career because his loan spell at Aston Villa didn’t go too well last season.
It all started like a house on fire for the boyhood Everton fan because his first game in Claret and Blue colours was hitting Liverpool for seven.
But after a few months of strong performances, it quickly faded away for the Englishman, who quickly found himself fighting for his place in the Villa side.
And with Barkley putting on such a strong display yesterday, Chelsea fans are well aware that they shouldn’t get too carried away because they know what’s going to come down the line.
Although, it will be interesting if David Moyes, the man who brought him through the Everton ranks as a teenager, will want to re-unite with him at the London Stadium.
Or will Newcastle, who aren’t known for splashing the cash, provide him with another chance up North because it will be a surprise if he’s playing regularly for Chelsea next season.
