Some fans on Twitter are stunned that Celtic released Craig Gordon this past summer, in light of his heroics on Saturday.

Gordon’s six-year spell at Celtic came to an end in June when the Hoops elected against extending his contract.

The veteran Scotland international wound up returning to former club Hearts and maybe, just maybe, he still might’ve been of some use to the Parkhead side.

That’s because the 37-year-old pulled off a phenomenal display in helping the Jambos beat local rivals Hibernian in the Scottish Cup.

Gordon produced a number of huge saves to deny Hibs – including an exceptional stop to deny Kevin Nisbet – as Robbie Neilson’s side moved into the final of the competition.

It could and should have been a pretty routine win for the Easter Park side if Gordon wasn’t between the sticks.

And here’s how some fans on Twitter reacted to Celtic – whose options Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas haven’t been hugely convincing this season – deeming him to be insufficient.
