Sol Campbell agreed that David Raya’s save off Brennan Johnson in the first-half of Arsenal’s north London derby against Tottenham was ‘world-class’.
Mikel Arteta, after dropping Aaron Ramsdale to the bench last week against Everton, continued to start David Raya in what was Arsenal’s biggest game of the season so far.
And in the biggest of moments, Arsenal’s summer signing, who is on-loan from Brentford, produced some brilliant moments, including stopping Brennan Johnson at close-blank range.
Former Arsenal defender Campbell agreed that moment was ‘world-class’ from Arsenal’s new number one, as he told Premier League Productions (24/09/23 at 2:55 pm).
Even though Aaron Ramsdale has lost his place, cameras showed the England international applauding from the sidelines, which probably tells you everything you need to know about that save.
Nonetheless, this is what Campbell had to say about Raya today.

“On Raya making world-class save off Johnson: “For sure, for sure,” said Campbell. “He has been great. You have to hand it to him because it’s a big, big game.
“Tottenham had a great counter-attack. Great cut-back (for Brennan Johnson) and oh, he has done unbelievable.
“Whether Johnson connects with it properly, I am not too sure. But he still gets across really. Out of the danger zone. Fantastic.”

Raya shines in first Premier League start at the Emirates
The £25k-a-week star (Spotrac) made his debut away at Everton last week, before he donned the colours for the first time in the Champions League in midweek.
But this was his first Premier League start at the Emirates, and it’s fair to say, that he impressed.
There’s no doubt that Raya is now Arsenal’s new number one, as Arteta makes yet another ruthless call.
