Crystal Palace has praised Liverpool’s team on Sky Sports after they beat his side 2-0 yesterday on the final day of the Premier League season.

Hodgson was not given the fairytale send off at Anfield by his Palace squad, as they couldn’t find a route past Liverpool.

Andros Townsend wasted a presentable early opportunity for the Eagles, but after that the Reds started to take control of the game.

In the end Sadio Mane scored twice, as Liverpool secured three points which confirmed their place in the Champions League.

And Hodgson admitted that he couldn’t be too harsh on his side, as he felt they did all they could to combat a very strong Liverpool team.

“I thought we were organised and did our very, very best to keep them at bay,” he said.

“But let’s be fair about it. They are a world class team, with world class players and we knew we were going to be up against it.

“But 2-0, we have to accept that, and wish them well in the Champions League next year.”

Liverpool haven’t always looked a world class team this term, after injuries have struck.

However, when the season reached crunch stage, Klopp’s men came on strong.

Liverpool won their final five games of the season to climb back into the top four against all odds.

That shows the quality in depth that Liverpool possess, considering how many players they had sidelined throughout he season.

And the expectation is that Klopp’s side could be much stronger next season, when they have a more consistent backline to pick from.
