Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has praised Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris after watching the two sides play out a 0-0 draw yesterday, with his comments to Sky Sports during their live coverage.

Tottenham’s goalkeeper was fairly underworked during the contest, but when he was called into action he did his job excellently.

Lloris made one brilliant save from a long-range Mason Mount effort, as he leapt across his goal and turned the shot round the post.

And Lampard admits that he was very impressed by Lloris’s display, although he felt that Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son were kept quiet.

“It went as I sort of expected,” Lampard said, when asked for his thoughts on the game.

“I expected us to have a lot of the game and a lot of possession. We did. I thought it would be hard to create chances, but we created enough to win the game, so we had good control.

“The clean sheet factor against a team which we’ve seen recently are set up to counter attack and have amazing players to counter attack, I thought that part of our game was excellent.

“To deal with the threat of Harry Kane and Son particularly, we didn’t give them a sniff.

“The goalkeeper makes a great save, Lloris’s save from Mason is a world-class save, as it’s dipping into the corner.”

Both Chelsea and Tottenham paid each other a lot of respect yesterday, and it made for a contest of few chances.

Neither manager seemingly wanted to go for broke, as they knew the attacking threat that the other side posed.

The draw ended up being an acceptable result for both sides, as it keeps them right in the hunt for the Premier League title.

Tottenham currently lead the way, while Chelsea are just two points behind them, in third spot.
