‘World class’: Arsenal fans gush over £22m Mislintat signing who was ‘unbelievable’

If we’re honest, very few Arsenal players emerged from last night with much credit.

It was a dreadful night for Mikel Arteta’s side as they lost 3-0 away to Manchester City on day one of Project Restart.

To make matters worse, it was a vintage Arsenal performance with regards to defensive errors, as David Luiz – who was sent off on 49 minutes – endured a shocker.

Granit Xhaka went off injured inside 10 minutes, Bukayo Saka was expertly kept out of the game and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang couldn’t get into it.

But one player who did impress Arsenal fans is goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The German stopper, a £22 million signing during Sven Mislintat’s reign as Head of Recruitment two years ago, pulled off a string of fine saves and without him, the return trip to North London would’ve been a lot grimmer for Arteta and his players.
