Alan Shearer has labelled Kristoffer Klaesson’s two saves on his Premier League debut for Leeds against Wolves as ‘world-class’.
On Friday night, Klaesson had a game to remember because he was involved in Leeds’ epic 3-2 win over Wolves and Shearer has named the 21-year-old in his Team of the Week, as posted on the Premier League’s official website.
The Norwegian was brought into the fold in the second half when his team were 2-0 down and regular stopper, Illan Meslier, had to go off with an injury.
All of that happened on the back of Raul Jimenez’s red-card challenge on the Leeds keeper, which brought Klaesson into the fold.
Whilst all the talk was about the chaotic scenes Leeds caused in the second half and that comeback from 2-0 down, Shearer reserved praise for the young gun in between the sticks.
“Came on for his Premier League debut after Illan Meslier was taken off,” said Shearer.
“He made two world-class saves late on to help Leeds to a dramatic 3-2 win.”
If there was a game that summed up Leeds United, then it was their clash against Wolves at Molineux.
From going 2-0 down in the first half and it looking like they were down and out, to pulling the game back in typical Leeds style.
Whatever people’s opinions are of the Yorkshire side, one thing is for sure, they don’t stop putting their foot on the accelerator and entertaining all involved.
Whilst in previous times, it has resulted in them having to suffer heavy defeats, this time around, they came from 2-0 down to record a memorable and possible season-changing three points.
That’s back-to-back wins for Jesse Marsch as Leeds boss, and heading into the international break, he will feel relieved and more positive that he can keep the club in England’s top-flight.
