1) Fabio Aurelio goes back to Brazil
Liverpool veteran Fabio Aurelio has returned to Brazil after making just three appearances this season. He was originally released last summer, and then re-signed, but now he has clinched a move to homeland club Gremio. Signed from Valencia in 2006 by Rafa Benitez, fans will remember him fondly for a free-kick he scored at Old Trafford in a 4-1 win, and performances in the Champions League. Here are his best bits.
2) Santiago Silva fires Boca to the final
Boca Juniors have progressed to the final of the Copa Libertadores courtesy of a narrow victory over Brazilian club Fluminense. The win was sealed by a late goal after a goalmouth scramble, which Uruguayan forward Santiago Silva smashed home. The former Fiorentina striker celebrated wildly and the commentators traditional South American announcing is well worth a listen.
3) Anelka spells trouble in China
Nicolas Anelka is currently player-manager of Shanghai Shenhua, and we have previously warned it would not end well. The club have reportedly approached Argentine manager Sergio Batista about taking over, much to Anelka’s disappointment. In an interview he threw his toys of of the pram, and began hinting at problems between him and senior management, and we recommend Didier Drogba doesn’t put pen to paper on that contract just yet. Watch Anelka’s China debut below.
4) Szczesny scores wonder goal
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is busy preparing for Euro 2012 with Poland, and he is having fun while he is at it. Below is a video of him messing around in training, but managing to score a ‘Rabona’ wonder goal.
5) Juan Pablo Angel volleys home
Since leaving Aston Villa, Colombian striker Juan Pablo Angel has gone onto enjoy a varied spell in the USA. In midweek his side, Chivas USA, came up against his former club, the New York Red Bulls, and he made sure it was a memorable occasion. He scored an acrobatic volley on the stroke of half-time, to put his side ahead, with the game ending 1-1.
