Speaking on the 1874 Podcast, Gregg Evans has delivered an update on Aston Villa’s transfer plans, claiming that the Midlands club are now considering signing an attacking reinforcement.
Villa are quite light up front with Wesley having numerous injury problems and Keinan Davis lacking experience, so it’s not all that surprising to hear that Villa are considering bringing in an attacker.
“I’ve said all along that incomings are going to be quite quiet. They’re considering one attacking reinforcement, but only for the right price,” Evans said.
“There are players on that wanted list, you know, the recruitment team are working very hard, but more for next summer.
“I think it’s just a waiting game. We’re waiting to see what happens this week, they’ve got three games in quick succession and that will leave them three or four days after the Burnley game that they could jump into action in the transfer window if they needed to.”
This is certainly interesting to hear.
Villa haven’t been linked to many strikers this month, but don’t be surprised if rumours start to crop up in the near future.
It’s also worth noting that Evans says the recruitment team already have one eye on the summer, which is always great to hear, as Villa seem to have a good long-term strategy in place.
The Villans’ summer business was brilliant, and the fact that they’ve gone from relegation candidates to European candidates is a testament to that, and if Johan Lange and his team can pull off another coup this month, they may move up yet another gear.
