Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has explained how Jose Mourinho is planning for transfers at Tottenham this summer.
Unfortunately, it seems as though it’s bad news for Tottenham fans. Mourinho has once again been told that he’ll have to operate on a sell-to-buy policy, meaning that any funds that are to be spent have to first be raised by sales.
“Another element of this is that Mourinho, in terms of planning for the summer transfer window, is working on the basis that money to be spent on signings, and we told you many months ago that he has been prioritising improvements at centre-back and in centre-midfield, money for those signings has to be raised from within the current squad,” Castles said.

While Tottenham may have their targets this summer, it seems as though player sales are going to be just as important.
Spurs need to have a few players they’re ready to ship out, and at the moment, it’s hard to pinpoint which players are dispensable at Tottenham.
Of course, some players such as Juan Foyth, who has been loaned out this season, look set to leave, but even when you’re talking about fringe players such as Dele Alli, it’s hard to confidently say whether or not they’ll go.
Tottenham will certainly have a big job on their hands if they want to revamp their squad this summer.
