Everton ace Amadou Onana is confident he has more to offer after working on his shooting in training. The Belgium midfielder is eager to now improve his record in front of the goal.
Frank Lampard signed Onana from LOSC Lille for £33m in August but is yet to see a goal from the 21-year-old. The four-cap anchor has featured 15 times for the Toffees across all competitions so far. But his only goal involvement is one assist at Southampton in October.

Conor Coady turned the ball in past Gavin Bazunu to equalise from Onana’s header shortly after Joe Aribo had put the Saints ahead. But WhoScored only registered the midfielder as producing seven key passes and 15 shots, yet none were on target, in the Premier League.
Onana directed 11 of his attempts on goal before the Premier League hit pause wide of the target. He saw opposition players block a further four attempts. But no Everton player has missed the goal more often than Onana. Alex Iwobi and Demarai Gray are second with six.
Only Gray (29) and Anthony Gordon (23) have attempted more shots on goal overall than Onana (15) has for Everton in the Premier League this season, as well. But Gordon is their top scorer with three goals to Dwight McNeil with two. Iwobi, Gray and Coady have one.
Onana has already been working on scoring more goals for Everton in training
Scoring goals has never been a regular aspect of Onana’s game even before Everton signed the Belgian. He left Lille after netting just three times and assisting one goal through his 42 appearances. The Dakar native also left Hamburg after hitting three goals across 26 games.
So, Onana’s career haul currently only stands at six goals over the Everton star’s 83 games across all domestic competitions. He has further only netted once over his 36 caps across all age levels for Belgium. The midfielder hit his only Red Devils strike for the U21s in 2021.
But Onana accepts scoring goals is an area of the Everton ace’s game he needs to improve. He has also worked on it already in training and is confident he has more to offer Lampard once the Premier League resumes. The Toffees return at home to Wolves on Boxing Day.
“I feel my finishing is improving,” Onana told Sky Sports. “I’m confident because hard work always pays off. It’s what my whole career has been about – I’ve worked really hard to get to where I am today. It’s an area now I’ve been working on as I want to score more.”
